Overview:
With over 25 years of experience in smartphone and tablet accessories, smart home solutions, and lifestyle products, Fontastic.de needed a Shopify store that reflected their vast product portfolio and commitment to customer service.
The owners of fontastic24.de wanted to launch a parallel Shopify store, fontastic.de, to streamline their online presence. They partnered with HelloPerformance GmbH, who entrusted Soft Solutions4U with the complete development, data migration, and customization of the new store.
Despite complex challenges - from handling large file uploads to implementing advanced product filters - we built a fully functional Shopify store from scratch, ensuring a smooth and cohesive shopping experience tailored to the tech and accessories market.

Challenges & Solutions:
Building the Shopify Store from Scratch
- Challenge: Develop a new store identical to fontastic24.de, including design, product listings, and customer flows, without access to a direct Shopify export.
- Solution: We manually recreated the store structure, designed custom Shopify themes, and meticulously mapped and uploaded product data to ensure the new store mirrored the original.
Managing Large File Uploads in Shopify
- Challenge: Fontastic’s product catalog included over 4,000 product manuals and datasheets, with new files added for every product update. Shopify’s default system struggled to handle this volume without impacting site speed.
- Solution: We stored the PDFs in Google Drive and integrated it with Shopify via the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) API. This allowed for seamless file access while preserving site performance.
Implementation Steps:
- Created a public folder in Google Drive.
- Set up a project in GCP and enabled the Drive API.
- Generated API credentials and configured domain settings.
- Added a custom Liquid code snippet to dynamically link product pages with relevant PDF files.
Overcoming Shopify’s Filter Limits
- Challenge: Fontastic’s wide-ranging product line, from charging cables to smart home devices, required 30–33 filters for specifications like compatibility, material, and features – exceeding Shopify’s 25-filter limit.
- Solution: We integrated the AI Search & Product Filter app and utilized meta fields to add and manage the additional filters, enhancing the product search experience and making it easier for customers to find exactly what they needed.
Zero Price Handling & Seamless App Downloads
- Challenge: Fontastic offered free companion apps for certain smart home devices, but Shopify’s default settings displayed a price and an Add to Cart button, causing confusion.
- Solution: We customized the theme to hide prices and disable the Add to Cart button for free apps. We also integrated dynamic QR codes on product pages, allowing customers to scan and download apps instantly.

- Price Visibility: Automatically hide prices for free apps.
- Cart Button Removal: Disable the cart button for non-purchasable items.
- QR Code Integration: Embed QR codes that link directly to Android and iOS app downloads.
